So cute! I have nothing to critique about the concept or style(which I love) or color! I would work on the composition a little - that is, I would work on making it less boxy - i feel it's still too square to fit organically on the shirt. What about letting the tiles stagger off at the bottom instead of the rounded mask? Do you know what I mean? Instead of cutting them off with a mask, let them end naturally but create a sort of jagged curved line. Although I think the biggest problem is the straightness of the sides. Maybe let the coloring of the wall end in more ragged and in bigger brush strokes and not all at the same horizontal point. For example, I would let some of the strokes end behind the chef, so that his body is the leftmost object for some of the time. Shorten the top black line on both sides so that it doesn't end at the same point either. God, I feel like I'm explaining this so badly.



All I'm trying to say is, make it less boxy and it'll look even better than it already does!

Thanks littleclyde, i think i get what you mean. I will be experimenting with different shapes today to try and get that organic feel. Or maybe even give it some kind of nursery rhyme/fairy tale border.



What do you guys think about adding another pig on the back of the shirt, just laying there unhappily 'and this little piggy had none.'

Hey Eric. Scrap the background wall colour - let it be the the colour of the fabric that you choose to put it on. Because your linework is thin and sketchy (and great), IMO you need to kill the saturation on some of the colours. That brown is to dark, and the pink and yellow are too harsh. The colour combination is not really working for me... hmmmmm. It needs tweaking. My advice is pick a t-shirt colour, and work it into the design - make the t-shirt fabric part of the design - as it is, it looks like it might be an illustration from a book that has been cut out and put on a tee. Great work though :)

This is looking good, Littleclyde and Fatheed have some good suggestions. Indeed the box'-ness is the only criticism I have.

First experimental shape with desaturated colors, removed shadow under pig, walls/floor same color as shirt.

Eric, the patches of yellow ceiling look a bit wrong, maybe leave them out?

I love the concept and design very much. I'm not crazy about the edges though.

mmm... pork chops.... yummm... very appetizing. not liking the edges too. If these is an anti-meat design the pig should have a little more character. right now he just look like a pork chop waiting to happen.

Thanks guys, i'm just trying out different shapes at the moment. I thought it looked bottom heavy without some kind of ink at the top that's why i added the extra yellow. It also makes the design less boxy. Retroludo the edges have been roughly cut just to give an impression of how it will look on a shirt, the final illustration will be refined.

Agree with Retroludo.

Pig should have a tote bag over his shoulder to make it clear that he's going shopping, an isn't just on a vengeful rampage!

Yeh, get rid of the ceiling, and choose a shirt other than white or grey!



But otherwise, great design.

One other suggestion, the indent on the lefthand side, beneath the counter, perhaps that could be a little less indented, as it seems to make the design off balance... what do you think

This is very cute! I actually don't know that you really need the tote bag, I think it's pretty obvious without it. For some reason I just don't like that bag, maybe if it were a backpack with a picture of a goose on it, a backpack seems like it would be easier for a pig to carry anyway.

The main reason you think it is obvious joycewu is because you have seen that title which says this little piggy which primes you for the picture, but without that first hint i think it's a bit harder to figure out. The tote bag is a good thing, and yes, put some of the yellow hue at the top to give the outline a little more oomph. Great work guys!

I don't like the text on the tote bag. It either needs to be skewed a bit or changed all together because I really don't think it fits with the rest of the design.



Sans the bag though I really like your style and the idea of this design. Nicely executed.

joycewu i also agree with you about the backpack being more practical for a pig, but a backpack says school or camping. But a tote bag says shopping. Well i'm changing the bag and putting this on brown next!

I think you're right dasmoo, the rhyme will have to go in the first comment to fall back on. I've talked to a few people that recognize the nursery rhyme but didn't remember the whole thing, for example the roast beef. I'm curious to see how many 'i dont get its' there will be!

At any rate it's amusing to see a pig in a butcher. It's like those chicken joints that will show a manically happy chicken cooking a chicken to eat. Yum...

looks a lot better though. The black tiles on the wall behind the cook are too black and steal a lot of attention. maybe you should tone them down bit. I like the handbag. The bottom right corner annoys me deeply

Eric and 5napple, in the rhyme there are 5 piggies. They each do something else.

This little piggy went to market

This little piggy stayed at home

This little piggy had roast beef

This little piggy had none

and THIS little piggy went wee wee wee all the way home.



Childrens Nursery rhyme, usually accompanied by tickling with the wee wee wee all the way home.



Thus the only critism I have is that the pig that went to market is not the same pig that had roast beef.



That said, I love this design, and I love how you have done it, and it works for me! Kudo's to you and 5napple!

Thanks a lot MG! I wanted to add another pig to incorporate more of the rhyme into the shirt without overdoing it. Like the pig that had none laying unhappily on the back of the tee. I haven't had much feedback on that idea. But i have some time today to work on it.

Another pig could be cool, see what you can do!

On gray with the necessary color changes and with the added 'this little piggy had none' on the back!

yes it has a bit too pointy end.. but i love it at the back of the shirt :) maybe a bit smaller piggy :) Or how about 2 baby piggies sniffing either vegetarian food or something else funny/provocative

I'd like if the pig on the back were at the bottom of the tee-- at the top long hair would completely cover it! But perhaps this is just me.

Eric, That piggy at the back is cool. I would suggest putting it lower down though, for the girl's hair situation.



Also, perhaps make the piggy buying roast beef smile more so that he is in contrast to the poor little piggy that got none.



And maybe adjust his rear end so that it looks more rounded.



and a cabanossi stick is a dried sausage salami stick snack.

Oh and the bigger bag looks better...



additional idea, how about a leek (prei) sticking out the shopping bag to look like he's been shopping at the market??
