I guess you could say this is a play on words or a visual metaphor. I want the viewer to come to their own conclusion as to any sort of meaning behind the image, but I think drummers will love it!

Cool idea but the heart image is overplayed (My first submission had a heart element in it and I got my ass chewed off over it - all is well now!) It's probably best to just give up at this point - I know that sounds ruthless and I don't mean it to be, but after reading comments on heart tees.... yikes!

lol... I'm not quite sure how you meant that but in a way it's true... with the thousands of t-shirts that are submitted each week by design artists far superior than you or I, its pretty disheartening to even attempt to create something mildly entertaining. :/

I get what Marrgalo is saying about heart tees in general, they're a little disturbing... I like your illustration though. I think it might be better with shadows behind the heart and under the drum pedal (if that's what it is).

I normally hate heart designs as they are so overdone, but this one is really good. I'm interested to see it with some shadow, and see a close-up of the detailing on the heart.

First off don't listen to the hearts are played out critique. It's total BS. I used to be a tattooist and about 100 hearts in one year permanently marked on different bodies can attest that hearts will never be played out. You just have to respect the icon and use it wisely. Same thing with skulls. It looks good. Ad a simple tread pattern to the pedal. Also try moving the placement slightly more left.

it does need some shadows or highlights... it looks like it wanted to be 3D but it's halfway done... but I love the concept

Thanks Starmazing. I think the tread on the pedal is a good idea. I haven't done any hightlights because I was trying to stick with the a minimal color pallette. I think adding highlights is probably a good idea as well. Thanks for all of your input!

Critique mine?

maybe it wouldn't look as brutal if the head of the "knocker" didn't make as deep an indent on the heart itself. The leaking blood might be a little superfluous to the concept.



I think the whole design would need to be amped up for full intricate details for a gory heart to work.



But ditto on the heart comments, it's been done alot and you'll need to come up with something truly exceptional to get past people's prejudice.
