Very nice illo, great style. Good story but maybe not clear enough.
I think most of us when asked to describe a hedgehog/porcupine would say, lot's of bristles, spines or needles covering a large rodents body. This porcupine is somewhat bare, devoid of the sticky things. He may be the shape of and have the snout of a hedgehog but without the needles, it's hard to tell.
The one big needle in the lion's mouth is also a bit misleading. Because of it's large size, it's hard to imagine that it came off of such a small animal. It's not a size relationship that's easy to grasp. I think you need to put many smaller spines on the lion's tongue and put a lot of those same-sized spines on the hedgehog to help the viewer make the connection.
The giraffe is incredibly designed. Great expression and body language. It might make it even funnier if there was just one tiny needle held by the huge pliers in his hands. He's so focused and squinting with just one eye, it might make sense to have him struggling with something smaller and hard to see.
Anyway, great start, keep going.
As for a title, how about, "I should have ordered the gnu" =]
hahaha, i like the concept, just not so crazy about the style/rendering. the hedgehog is so angular, then the giraffe is all loopy and the lion is somewhere in the middle? idk, i kinda like everyone to look more the same than that.
Looks much better, easier to get. The porcupine is great. I wasn't suggesting to get rid of the pliers, (one of the best parts of the picture), I was just suggesting putting a needle in them. It looks good without it though, so ignore me on that one.
There's a white spot on the lion's cheek, a tear maybe? Maybe make the art bigger and the tee placement smaller on your next V so every one can appreciate the details. Try showing some different color tees, (you don't need models just shirts), everybody likes choice. The sand shirt works, it might look good on blue, heather, and natural.
I don't think you need the ground shadows. If you use them I think they need to be more than just ovals under their feet. They should be different shapes, but as I said, I don't think they add anything.
Anyway, great work, I'm hitting submit, and wish you luck. Cheers!
