Was just playing around and thought this was fun.

I'd leave the octopus as negative space. The two light blues compete. And less printing.

i love the concept but i think its too simple right now. can you work on the artwork of the octopus?

I think this is cute. And sometimes the simplest designs are a lot better than the complex ones. Being complex for the sake of being complex really doesn't add any articulation to a work unless it's done really incredibly well. And so far I've seen very subs done in that mode that were any good. I do agree with trying out the negative space thing though.

Maybe just a highlight on his head? Since it's so big? Also, making it negative space is a good idea.

Added some shading, made the Octopus out of negative space, switched ink splat from front corner to back... Good changes or bad changes? Lemme know!

I like it, it's cute. I especially like the leaked-through stain on the back. If anything, make the lil baby squid have the total 8 tentacles. I like it!

Do you really think he needs all the 8? I thought he might get a little too busy that way. I can try it though..

prop - the stain is the same shape, it's just reversed horizontally, like it is bleeding through from the front. And it's a little faded because it hasn't "soaked" all the way through. :)

I like the design. I'm not sure if it really needs to be "anatomically correct", but I thought I might just make the comment since I'm here. :) Not about the number of tentacles -- I think showing 4 is okay. What I was gonna mention is that I don't *think* octopus' ink like that (or at least, it's not as well known). Squid doo, though squid aren't round -- their heads are shaped kinda like arrow heads. So depending on the way you want to go, you might try changing the shape of the head. But like I said, I don't know that it needs to be "anatomically correct". It's a real nice design as is and I don't think anybody will be confused about it.



I'm reminded vaguely of the Odie Bar commercial in the movie Serenity. Which is a good association for me, 'cause I love that show. :) I don't think the color selection will make or break this design one way or the other.

Maybe change the placement of the octopus to above the bottom right corner? It would change the ink stain on the back to the bottom as well, which would almost make the wearer look like they sat in something, which could be interesting... Let me know.

I like it. the ink stain on the back is great.

oh one more thing, remove the highlight on the part thats dripping down.. doesnt work methinks. and make the end of that stream a little more bulbous (maybe then you'll need the highlight) than the rest of the tail.

Cat - Part of the outline (the tentacles) are from a dingbat, but the head was not filled in, nor the same shape, and there weren't any real facial features on it. So I feel like I've pulled it far enough away from the font so as to not upset (or possibly even alert) the creators. I'm at work now (sshhh, don't tell them I'm on Threadless...) so I'll try some of your suggestions when I get home. Thanks!!
