Still small things to finish...

Again, critique and suggestions will be met with love and adoration. :)

love it! would like to see the boy in color. also it would be good if the birds match (ie both have black lines, or neither). I really dig the happy vibes coming from the elephant's expression (sheer joy)

it took me a little bit to realize that those were clouds, they look a little more like wave crests to me

Well, the unlined one is currently just a placement blob for one I've yet to draw in. On the list of "things to finish," along with the clouds shading and the kid.

Anyone have any title suggestions? Best I've got is, "if I had wings, I'd fly away with you."

What about a lovely blue and green earth. Rather than just the plain ends of the opening to the sky for the elephant to fly out of, what about two beautiful indian style pillars

Title suggestion: All the fun of the sky. You could also use gold foil around the exit or pillar area ( or silver foil)

NO FOIL!!!!
Chris Carney
Chris Carney on Feb 02 '08
I mean the subtle use of foil not just slapped on any on anywhere in great amounts

i dont like any amount of foil i think it ruins a perfectly good shirt
SheepMan22
SheepMan22 on Feb 02 '08
it makes it looky tacky and just ugly
Chris Carney
Chris Carney on Feb 02 '08
Maybe your right as I haven't actually seen foil on a tee but I would have thought threadless would avoid any thing tacky. maybe not

Foil can be pulled off well, but I'm of the opinion that you should only use something like that if you have a damn good reason to. In this case, I thinkit would detract more than it would add.

..actual I will remember that when I'm thinking of buying a shirt

Very nice idea, I love the sentiment. I'm immediately taken by the modeling and gesture of the elephant, he's very convincing.

You've said you're still working on the details, so if I touch on something you've already decided to change, there's no need to respond to it.

The right ear of the elephant doesn't immediately read as such. I first thought it was a saddle blanket lifting in the breeze. I think the boy's coloring (you're working on) might help define it better. If it's not enough, you might try replacing the ear's darker grey with a lighter one. The black lines on the hind portion of the elephant delineate in a sharper way than the shading does on the front left leg and neck. Both work well, but they're noticeably different from each other.

I like the ribbons of clouds ( place holders) much better than the usual puffs. I get the sense that they're high above the earth because of their orbital curvature.

The only real bothersome aspect of the design, (my opinion only), is the window vaulting into the neck line. The ellipse-shaped edge seems foreign to the other forms in the design. And, because the human face is the number one attraction in the world, it might act as an exit door and escort the viewer away from this beautiful piece of work.

Anyway, great piece of work, I'm sure it will be even better by the time you're through with it. Cheers!

Will it be possible to see some of the green earth through the clouds? Are the sides of the exit/entrance supposed to be parallel or not? could the top of the exit/entrance be arched instead of going into infinity (out of sight)?

I think the angle produced by the junction between the left hand vertical side of the exist and the bottom horizontal is way over 90 derees . I would start from the bottom horizonal being at 0 decrees (parellel with the earth) and constract every thing from there
Chris Carney
Chris Carney on Feb 03 '08
..or have the bottom horizonal at a 90 degree angle form the vertical side

Elephant tails actually have bristles on the end.
