OK thanks to an exellent suggestion (tank42 I think it was) I completly redid my rag doll idea and came up with this which I am really happy with compaired to what I had before.

Uhhh yeah change the dolls color to like a brownish. Make his thorax and abdomen bigger like a teddy bear, and fix his button eyes. Apart from that its a cool concept.

I like it! I like the placement of the middle tee the best, but I like the design best on a brwon tee. I actually think that the doll colour should be like you have it right now. But a bit more to a cream colour or to a sand colour. Take the red a bit down to do that. Then it would look like an old doll more. Maybe you could add some scars made with the same striped red line. The big flame is a bit off on the right. Make the right down corner more round instead of kinda boxy with a round edge. Maybe loose the halftone on the back too. It would make it more simple. Which would make it better I think, maybe. I would like to see that just to take a look if it takes off well. The stomach/hip on the right needs to be a bit more round too. It's too straight now. He's sitting down so automaticly the stuff that the puppet is filt with will go down. And this usaully happens with humans too. The box with the matches in it is a bit wrong with the perspective of the puppet. Make them less looking down to it, but a bit more from front side of it. Well I hope I helped you out a bit with making this perfect. Your illustration style is really good!

Ok Finally here is version two. I changed the shape of the doll and made his color more of an orangey brown. I redrew the button eyes, changed the perspective of the match box and the fire in the background.



Last version I had people that liked bothe the brown and red shirts as well as both placements. Thank you everyone for all the help so far.

i like it, i´m not shure about the eyes, the better placement is the one in the bottom of the tee

Brighter colors on the flames might help -- not just the flames on his hand, but also on the background flames.



That's just a minor point, though. It's pretty submission-worthy right now. :)

Is it the color of the eyes, or the way they are drawn?

BTW: I prefer the center-of-the-chest placement.

Maybe I'm biased, but I'm not too sure about that title.

Okay this is much better than the v1! The only thing I'd like to see is some hair on his head. Keep up the good work.

Looks awesome dude, as someone said.. the eyes could be fixed.. try having the same number of button holes on them to see if it helps and also brighten up the flames on his hand, try adding some orange to help with that

seems like too much flash. Metallic is cool or embroider is cool, but not both.

does anyone else think i should lose the metallic? I definatly want to keep the embrodary.



Oh and andyz I can see what your saying about my title, I will definatly change it in respect to your work. I didnt know you used that title Im sorry.

Ok. Added some hair, fire is now bright orange, got rid of the metalic buttons and zipper are just gray, something else is new I forget.



I need to change the title to something else, dont play with matches was already used and printed.

I love how the button eyes give you the idea of them spinning in pain/horror. I'm unsure about a title. I'll try and get back to you on that one.

Like the brown one the best! The hair really is the finishing touch! Though I think you should loose the big flame on the background. Or give it another colour. For the brown that would mean a bit darker brown then the brown t-shirt. And for the red one, a bit darker red then the t-shirt. Oh and I still think the big flame on the hand/arm should be a little more worked out. Like I said before the right bottom round corner needs to be more round. I hope you will fix this because it's really something I keep looking at... You're making great progress here. Good work!

i disagree with spielie, a darker shade of the tee would make it look like a shadow, and fire is light

The embroidery on the doll makes sense but I think it's overkill for the flame (plus you'd probably want a different color, ramping up production costs)

Those are some great titles, I like the "I thought they were crayons one" but I think "A Match is Not a Toy" works best, what does everyone else think?

I agree that the stitches in the flames are a little much! I love this design though, and think A match is not a toy is a good title, although I randomly thought of Fire Retarded, which is probably offensive and if so I appologize!

Fire retarted made me laugh, but yeah I think in general it will offend.

I think it a WONDERFUL design except for the text-------so... if your gonna submit this, I say NO TEXT ("fire hurts" text)

The text wont be on the shirt, just the presentation.

Ok, fixed the flame on the hand and ditched the stiches on it, also more people liked the brown over the red so i made that color the main focus.



I took the title idea from threadymunster and simplified it.

I liked it on the red personally. For names, I would say either 'bad idea' or 'I thought they were crayons.'

Korn is infact my favorite band, and that doll from their cover inspired me to do a lot of ragdoll paintings and characters, but I think the way i do mine are different, am I wrong what does everyone else think?

I still like the red too, thats why im keeping it as an option up top. Im just trying to figure out which color to make the main presentation.
