Im looking at this for the first time.. i somehow missed the first 4 versions.. Im a little confused..

my HONEST opinion... I love the little character, and the clouds at the top with the watering can pouring the water onto the umbrellas and the sun flower holding up the other umbrella..

it just seems like thats all that you would need, the rest makes it a little hectic..

Is any of that a possible scenario for this, or is it at an unmanageable stage, being that its mainly hand drawn?

i don't know...i've put so much time into it...are you saying take out the raindrops or puddle? i don't know...i agree that i'm not totally crazy about it, it seems hectic to me too, but i don't know what to do at this point! i'm kind of curious at people's thoughts before i submit, but i'm not sure this design is worth re-working too much:) Thanks!

perhaps also the "detail" in v4 makes the presentation even more hectic?

whats the difference between v4 and v5?

I actually wrote a pretty long response about 10 minutes ago, but then something weird happened and i couldnt get back on to threadless. grr

i hate when that happens! no difference really, just v5 features the detail in top right corner, just a presentation thing. i don't like how the smaller version doesn't show how the pattern is throughout the water, when it's condensed down it just looks all one color blue...

ok well.. I like it, I just think it would be better with fewer elements.

If it were me.. I would take out the big puddle the girl is standing in, leave the one by her feet. I would leave the girl, the boot with the sunflowers holding the umbrella, leave the stream of water that goes down into the first umbrella into the second, leave the watering can and the clouds.

I would remove everything else, and I would take out some of the water that is in the first umbrella because at the angle its at, the water would overflow out of the umbrella well before it reached the height that the water is currently at.

I do understand that this is hand drawn, so this is more difficult to do for you.. maybe in photoshop you could erase some of those elements?

Im sure this will score well without you doing all of these things, because its a nice design, but as I said before, its just a little hectic.

thanks Danielle! i totally agree, it may be too hectic. i tend to get ideas and once they are executed end up looking more hectic than i imagined...but yes, it would take quite a lot of work to change these things, even through erasing...and i'm kind of burnt out on this idea. i'm going to submit it and just see what happens...and move on to something else eventually! thanks for your input though, it will help on my next design i hope! (i thought i'd learned my lesson on being too hectic, but somehow i did it again!) i like critiques because it gives some immediacy to how a design might do and sometimes permits me to make revisions, but because it is hand-drawn and colored, it is hard for me to change a lot of things and also to know whether to abandon parts that i spent so much time on.

I'd rather see details of the watering pitcher and the fish. I think this looks great and I hope you get this printed so i can buy one! :)

Thanks! I did submit, but I took out the detail square because although I'd like people to see an up-close, I thought it made the presentation too busy. I'll post a link to a whole large view when it's up for scoring.

I agree with it still needing little changes ("slowing it down" a bit), but the idea is sweet and the way you drew it is adorable!
