Okay a design of mine that has been in the works for a while now (hence only 4 colours).

Done in a collage, scrapbook style, its a homage to all the best mono mammels, shadowy snakes and black & white birds.

Featureing some commonly spotted Threadless favs (pandas & polar bears) and some ,unfortunatly, rarely seen (tapirs & lemurs)

I purposely only worked on it once a week, to try and give every animal its own kinda style, like they had all been collected from various places or shap shots.

The artic fox is intended to be placed on the back of the shirt
And the snowy owl isn't quite finished yet.

But i am eager to hear everyones thoughts on this. Is it too busy? Have i missed any animals?

I prefer the khaki. But cool design.

What about penguins?
And is the gestural sketchy one a skunk?
There are also snow leapords, white tigers, great white sharks, raccoons, and I'm sure there are many more. Just in case you wanted to do some more or change some around.

i like the concept and the title, but i dont think you are there yet. there are too many competing styles within the design, not one thing feels like it is holding this together. you are creating different visual ques for depth but the fight against each other, the polar bears compared to the sting rays compared to the killer whales all different angles, which done differently could work, but here it dosent feel like it is. maybe if you took a few of the elements and ran with them, but right now there are too many different things going on - too many different elements, styles and points of view. nothing besides the theme is bringing them together..

How about only white print on black tee or vice versa and let the eye complete the picture? Ya missed the zebra too. I also agree, keep the styles simple and similar, so there's not so much going on that you get lost in it.

Sorry, just now saw the zebra at the top, it was so vague

no skunk?
SEVEN-HUNDRED
SEVEN-HUNDRED on Feb 05 '07
Mmm good fun this critique thingy.

Drmtama2 - there is a skunk, but it is very abstract, its above the orcas and next to the magpie. Its done in a kinda graffiti tag style (with a slight twist of Roy Lichtenstein)

So is there too many styles, i should reign it in a bit?

Love the general idea but think you're missing a trick by not making it a black on white or white on black only T. (I know there can be problems with white on black so perhaps you need to check this out with the Threadless people.) I don't mind the mixed style of graphics that some people have a problem with but I really find the owl so - well - just not black and white enough. I think you could have a real winner here but you need to stretch the whole idea a bit more.

I think it's too cluttered. I don't know how you could fix that.

Experiment with only positive or negative space and see what you can come up with.

I agree with what's been said before. Needs reigning in a little, and maybe having more of a "style" throughout. I love the polar bears arse sticking out. The skunk is cool, but I don't think it works in this. Drawn like that, it would be great on it's own on a shirt.

SEVEN _ HUNDRED!!!!!!!!

mate, youve been in this foxhole for a while...

I read through the comments and looked at your design adn I feel Corey is spot on, the overall shape is not working.

I really like the concept so where can you go from here.
I would use a single consistent item shape or line to work the design.
For example pick one of your animals, let's say the zebra, then incorporate all the other black and white animals into the single form.
I know I know this is a complete re-work up, but from 15 feet this design wont look right at all.
keep your hand on this until the bleeding stops.
