personally, I like this without the person, from afar, it's supposed to look like a generic drum kit, and only upon closer inspection do you get that nostalgic need for wooden spoons and a tolerant mother. I think a person would alter the dynamic too much.

but anyway, if really you don't feel like it, it's your design, after all! ^^

I think you need to avoid putting anyone on it! It will make the image too complicated and will take peoples eyes away from the drumkit which is the main principle of the design.
