Nothing too deep chelz, you're reading too much into it.
The pale green rain and water spillage is just that. But you can read whatever you'd like into it. SMOKING KILLS !! :)
But then again, perhaps there is deeper meaning..
water is life.
smoking can result in death.
on one side is a bucket of water.
on the other a pile of ashes.
Reminds me of the Bill Hicks rant: 'Hey guess what? Non smokers die every day! Hahahhaha!' *puffs on cig
It's well done, if a bit too random. I mean, whats the significance of the unicycle? or bucket? Am I over thinking it? I think I prefer this new colourway
I agree that it seems kind of random, but at the same time, I absolutely love it. Makes me think of those cards with the "no smoking" sign that say underneath, "There are cooler ways to die."
I'd make the text harder to distinguish from the clouds, maybe. Even so, I really like this. A lot. :D
ok, here's the deal.
It may seem random, and some of it is, but my intentions in creating this piece were to emulate/channel josh and his crazy random illo style.
The unicycle is homage to josh as he has a thing for bicycles and draws them lots. Obviously the smoke and cigarrete is also homage to josh and his random words spelt out in smoke.
The bucket was just an after thought as I thought I'd have rain coming out of the cloud, and then thought it'd be cool to have it rain straight into an overfilling bucket. Plus I thought the bucket would balance the pile of ash on the other side.
I suppose you can interpret this piece in many ways. The cloud and water can symbolise life, the smoke and cigarrette death. The smoke is kissing the cloud whilst the rain pours into the bucket. A (uni)cycle of life and death?
Enjoy.
