Yea, I'm missing the meaning as well. Think it needs a clever line of copy. Also, who really makes a fist with their thumb tucked in? If you punch someone that way, you could dislocate your thumb!

You are obviously very good at drawing. I think if you put "handy hammer" somewhere on this shirt it would help the design.

This is part of a series of four. I also have pliers, screwdriver and a wrench. Also, i realize that you wouldn't want to tuck your thumb in when punching someone, but the impact here would be on the pinky side of the hand (this also just happened to be the fist i made when drawing it).

This is the whole series. Pegboard background maybe?

The best one is the wrench. The pliers are kind of redundant in the design in my opinion.

As for the hammer: when I clench my fist, I never tuck my thumb underneath my fingers, so that's just a little off there. You might be able to get away with that though.

It's a pretty neat concept though, I'd go back and rework it a little bit. The wrench is just spot on, bravo!

I like the pliers best. I don't think that the thumb under the finger is that big of a deal. I think if the thumb were over the fingers, it might look like a white power shirt and I don't think anyone wants that. Just my opinion.

i agree with the above statements. I would like to see the hammer with a thumb...maybe at a 45 degree angle as if it were hammering something? :/ the concept is definitly there (no text necessary) and your drawings are really great!

Finger screwdriver creeps me out. May invite unsavoury comments. Perhaps some metal between the digit and red handle?

I changed the tools back into black and white, removed the screwdriver, and added the pegboard/hooks.

Any suggestions? I'm not sure about the black and white scheme yet, but it think it works a little better with the background than the skin-tone.

I like the black and white. I'm not digging the hole board background though. What about hanging up on hooks (like they are) without the other holes on a black shirt? Just throwing that out there, you can try it and if it looks dumb there's no need to put it up here, but that's my first thoughts.

I did some surgery on the design... reduced and separated the colors and simplified everything a bit.

I love the concept. I have a few hand mix ups myself! So I'm a fan already!
My critique would be to either remove or work on the hooks. They seem strange, like they don't belong... yet?!

and... I like the color in the drawings from the previous versions. I guess that's just me?

I love everything about it except for the fact that the pegs have black in them but there's no black anywhere else in the design. They stick out a bit too much, like ellabeeinc said.

Other than that, I love this design!

Awesome... I can easily change the color of the hooks. I somehow hadn't realized that those were still black until i put it up here. thanks

I agree, the holes worked better IMO, just make it less of a rectangle.

Played around with the holes a bit more.. replaced the black with a dark gray that allows it to blend a little more.

The holes are a lot more fitting with the design now- much better imho

Any suggestions for overall placement? The design is centrally balanced, so it seems to fit in the middle... but I'm open to suggestion. Also, what other shirt colors?

It's well executed, and I think the pegboard effect's absolutely necessary to the design. But I have to say, this might just be the creepiest design I've seen on Threadless in a while. *shudder*

Haha... thanks. I've just been trying to cook up some designs that simply haven't been done before.

The pegboard is a definite improvement. I kind of liked the tools when they had color though.

Dark colors. Like army green, brown, Navy

I have it on brown and army... I also kinda like how it looks on natural. Added the wrench for comic effect.

I disagree about the pegboard. It helps liven up the design.

I still feel like it needs something, though. Maybe add a workbench underneath? You could continue your idea on it, with another "hand-tool". It would just help to add a little perspective, which is something I think this design needs.

I considered/tried the workbench idea, but didn't feel that it actually added anything to the design. It also made the whole shirt a little "bottom-heavy".

Also, you mentioned "hand-tools". I've been back and forth between calling this design "Hand-tools" or "Handy tools". Second one might be too cheesy, but what do you guys think?

I'm surprised by how well the natural looks, but I like all three colors. Go with "hand tools" for the name. Looks great, very well done.
