This design was illegaly submitted to Threadless by a designer who found a photo of the original painting on Flickr, traced it, basically posterized it and thought it would be ok to submit. Just hours after the design was released, it was brought to our attention that the design infringed on the work of two amazing stencil artists.

Artists Miso and Ghostpatrol created the original piece.

These artists have made it very clear to us that they would never have released this design on a tee shirt in the manner that it was submitted in. They would much prefer to clean up the illustration, fix the distortion from tracing an off-angle photo, use more colors, etc. However, we have worked with Miso and Ghostpatrol to allow us to continue to sell this design so as not to waste the goods produced.

To give the artists the ability to show their real capabilities, we have invited them to create a Threadless Select design. Keep your eyes peeled for that!

The prize package has not been awarded to the offending submitter and has been transferred to Miso and Ghostpatrol.
